5 UI/UX Mistakes That Silently Kill Your Website Conversions Blog
Most websites do not have a traffic problem — they have a conversion problem. Visitors arrive, get confused or annoyed, and leave. Here are the UI/UX mistakes I fix most often on client sites.
1. No clear next step
Every page should answer: what do you want the visitor to do next? If your homepage has seven equally-weighted buttons, it effectively has none. One primary action per page, visually dominant.
2. Walls of text
Visitors scan; they do not read. Short paragraphs, meaningful headings, and bullet points let people find what they need in seconds. If a section takes more than five seconds to understand, rewrite it.
3. Mobile as an afterthought
More than half of your traffic is on a phone. Tiny tap targets, horizontal scrolling, and forms that fight the keyboard silently kill conversions every day. Design for the phone first, then scale up.
4. Slow, heavy pages
Beautiful animations mean nothing if the page takes six seconds to load. Speed is a UX feature — often the most important one.
5. Asking for too much too soon
A contact form with ten required fields converts a fraction of what a three-field form does. Ask for the minimum; collect the rest later.
The cheap fix
Watch one real person use your website for five minutes without helping them. The problems you spot will be worth more than any redesign trend. Want a professional UX review of your site? That is literally my job — get in touch.
